Lhakpa Ri Expedition

Surely the only way to experience the Tibetan side of Everest! Fly into Lhasa where you're 'forced' to take it easy for a few days and soak up the culture. Trek through valleys filled with ripening barley and herds of yaks and goats to Everest Base Camp. And a steady achievable trek through stunning glaciers and peaks to ABC (Advanced Base Camp), and Lhakpa Ri (which must be the worlds most achievable 7000m peak) right there.
This expedition reverses the route taken by Sir George Mallory on his 1921 reconnaissance expedition to Mount Everest.
Itinerary
In route there are yak herders camps and grain farms, moors and meadows and unimagined green. We weave through the ice pinnacles and cross the Rongbuk glacier to Rabu La where you can peer over into the Kangshung face, at Everest's rarely seen Fantasy Ridge, and at the northern aspect of Makalu.
There is the opportunity for what might be the highest-ever avalanche rescue training day. And of course we climb to the summit of Lhakpa RI (7045m) where the views stretching all around bestow a well-earned rest basking in the splendor of the Himalaya. Where to do I sign?!
As the trip is of an introductory level and not technical in nature, you need not have climbed before. You will need a good level of fitness will to get the most out of this adventure.
Our style
we have now topped off three successful treks to Everest Advanced BC in Tibet with climbs of Lhakpa Ri 7045m! Our approach is to apply our good local knowledge and expedition expertise to deliver a carefully planned itinerary that you will love. We use good quality hotels in towns and individual tents on the trek and pay special attention to the quality of food and your well being. Our well trained and knowledgeable crew will keep you safe and happy. High Himal whole ethos revolves around giving people excellent mountain experiences that will have them wanting to do more.
Is this suit for you?
This trip is aimed at trekkers and those without (or with little) climbing experience; trekking experience will be an advantage, as some of the trail is quite rough. The trekking is moderate to hard and the climbing is strenuous but not technically challenging. The environment is alien to most - but then that's the whole point! A good level of fitness is the main pre-requisite. On experience & fitness.
Attitude
Mentally, you should not be on this expedition unless you think you can climb to the summit, there is a lot of power is positive thinking. At the same time you must be prepared for disappointment; conditions may not be perfect, you may struggle at extreme altitude etc.
This is a professionally lead expedition. Your guide and crew are there to manage the logistics of the expedition not to haul you up the mountain or be personal servants. Your guide is there because he is familiar with the mountain and big expeditions, to assist in being a climbing partner, to make difficult judgment decisions and to generally manage the expedition. Your guide will accompany the team on the majority of the acclimatization trips and will endeavor to summit with you, but this is not a guarantee. The
Sherpas will summit with the expedition members.
We live together for more than a month so please have consideration for your fellow team members, crew and guide, and other mountaineers. Being polite and reasonable goes a long way; even minor dehydration makes almost anyone surprisingly irritable and intractable).
Experience and fitness
Despite the relatively non-technical nature you MUST have some mountaineering experience and MUST have been to 6000m before. The fitter you are when you arrive the better. You must be at least moderately fit, your fitness will build remarkably on the mountain. Don't underestimate the difficulty and strength of will required to climb at over 7000m.
